Outstanding Alumni Testimonial: Mrs. Mary Pat Lawrence Weiss, ‘93

Mrs. Mary Pat Lawrence Weiss attended the University of Alabama, finishing in 1997 with her bachelor’s degree and in 2000 with her Juris Doctorate degree.

She is a member of Denton’s Public Law and Policy Strategies practice, assisting clients in developing projects, identifying funding sources, and advocating requests to Congress and federal agencies. She has experience preparing legislative agendas for clients including universities, municipalities, county governments, nonprofits, and defense contractors.

Mrs. Weiss is a member of the Alabama Bar Association, Junior League of Washington and The Katherine Pollard Maddox Health Foundation. She served as legislative counsel in the office of U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions where she dealt with legislation considered by the judiciary committee. She also served on the Shelby for U.S. Senate campaign in 1996.
When asked what one piece of advice she would give to Donoho students, she replied, “Travel the world and read as much as you can!”

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Lawrence. She and her husband, Todd, currently reside in Bethesda, Maryland.
