Eleven Students Attend University of Alabama Honor Choir

Eleven Donoho choir students were selected to participate in the 25th annual University of Alabama Honor Choir. Selected high school students from across the states of Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi joined Alabama’s University Singers, led by Dr. John Ratledge, in several hours of intense rehearsal on Monday, October 22, 2012. At 7:30 that evening, a mere ten hours after gathering for their very first rehearsal, the 300+ member choir presented a challenging program of music with remarkable skill and ensemble musicianship. The concert repertoire included: Praise the Lord (Handel/Hopson), Missa Arirang (Cool-jae Huh), Seal Lullaby (Whitacre), Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal (Traditional Hymns/Paker), and Round the Glory Manger (Spiritual/Scott). The Donoho choral students selected for this honor through the application and referral process were: Kristen Athon, Richard Bateman, Alli Brascho, Sarah Campbell, Willy Coker, Patrick Huang, Raj Kashyap, Mary Elizabeth Mathison, Joseph Webb, Katherine Westbrook, and Maria Yamamuro. Congratulations to this talented and deserving group of young musicians!
