Freshman Maggie Wakefield Performs at World-Famous Carnegie Hall

Freshman, Maggie Wakefield, recently received a personal letter from conductor, composer, and arranger, Steven Reineke, inviting her to join The New York Pops onstage at Carnegie Hall in New York City for the concert, “Song and Dance: The Best of Broadway.” The concert was held this past Friday, November 16th.

“With knowledge of your passion for the trumpet, and your abundant experience performing in New York City and beyond, I believe wholeheartedly in your ability to perform side-by-side with the orchestra.” – Steven Reineke

Maggie was involved in 8 hours of rehearsals with the New York Pops conducted by Steven Reineke. The Program included several selections from famous Broadway plays, and Maggie was asked to play “A Tribute to Chicago,” the opening solo, and two other mid-song solos. She credits Donoho’s Band Director, David Swinney, for all his time and dedication in preparing her for this event! This experience was truly remarkable and will always be treasured by Maggie.

We are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication, Maggie! Continue engaging your passion!
