Bienville Chapter DAR Award Winners

The Bienville Chapter DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) recently announced their student award winners for the 2012-2013 school year.

Congratulations to the following students –

Alli Brascho, 12th Grade – DAR “Good Citizen Award”
Alli is the daughter of Mrs. Lisa Smith and Mr. Brad Brascho. She wrote an original essay on “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It.” Her piece described how our freedoms and responsibilities as good citizens are changing, and she was chosen based on her good citizen qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Also taken into consideration were here grades, home and community involvement, high school and extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation.

Turner Davis, 5th Grade – “American History Essay”
Turner is the son of Kent and Lisa Davis. He wrote an original piece on “Forgotten Patriots Who Supported the American Struggle for Independence.” His piece was also selected as the third-place winner on the state level.

James Perry, 6th Grade – “American History Essay”
James is the son of Tracy and Robbi Perry. He wrote an original piece on “Forgotten Patriots Who Supported the American Struggle for Independence.” His piece was also selected as the third-place winner on the state level.

Maren Christian, 8th Grade – “American History Essay”
Maren is the daughter of David and Nikki Christian. She wrote an original piece on “Forgotten Patriots Who Supported the American Struggle for Independence.”

These students will be honored by reading their essays on Tuesday, April 2, at 3:00 pm at the DAR meeting at the Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County.
