Theatre

The Donoho School Theatre department involves middle and high school students. The theatre department focuses on teaching all elements of theatre arts - acting, singing, dancing, set and costume design.  Past Donoho Theatre Department shows have included: Steel Magnolias; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Tuna Christmas; A Charlie Brown Christmas; Cinderella; A Christmas Carol; The Best Christmas Pageant Ever; The Miracle Worker; All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten; (Walter Trumbauer State Theatre Festival One Act Finalist) The Wizard of Oz; The Sound of Music; Beauty and the Beast;  and The Lion King, Jr. Main stage shows have been performed on the Anniston Performing Arts stage as well as the Oxford Performing Arts Center stage.

 
Regarding our Director:
Mrs. Ashley Burrage is the Fine Arts Department Coordinator at The Donoho School in Anniston where she teaches elementary music education to students in PK4 through 6th grade, as well as acting and speech to students in 7th through 12th grades. An Anniston native, Burrage went to the Alabama School of Fine Arts, where she majored in theatre in high school and graduated from Jacksonville State University with a B.A. in Theatre Arts, with a minor in Communications.
 
Mrs. Burrage has performed roles such as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Elvira in Blithe Spirit, Jennie Malone in Chapter Two, and Titania in Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also worked with many touring companies including her tour as a tour actor/director with the Missoula Children's Theatre Company, where she spent several years working with children in both the United States and abroad.  (She has been to all but seven states!)  Mrs. Burrage loved acting with and directing young people in Canada, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea!  Mrs. Burrage also was the resident children's director of local theatre troupe CAST Kidz in Anniston from 2014-2016.  
 
Ashley and her husband Randy have three children, Zachary, Griffyn, class of ’22, and baby Zane, born in October of 2015. She has been a member of the Donoho faculty since 2007 and loves watching students "Engage their passion" with theatre arts!
