The
Science Club is a student-led organization open to any student in
grades 9-12 interested in all areas of science. Assemblies of the
club consist of guest speakers from our local community. These speakers
discuss applied science in their professions. In the spring of the
year, the main project of the club is our school's celebration of
Earth Day. Other conservation and campus beautification projects
are completed throughout the year.

2008-09 School Year Activities

On October 27, 2008, Mr. John McBride, owner of Camp Mac and father of Emily and Riley McBride, gave an interesting presentation on snakes for the Donoho Science Club. The knowledge he shared left us better informed on the lives of snakes. We learned about the four types of poisonous snakes in North America, all of which are found in Alabama. He corrected many of the common misconceptions people have about snakes to help reduce our fear of snakes. He brought with him his pet snake, Kellogg the corn snake. Many of the club members enjoyed holding this friendly snake.
