The Donoho School and K98 Scholar-Athlete of the Week: Meredith Howell

Scholar-Athlete of the Week: Meredith Howell

Meredith Howell, a junior, is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad, a member of the varsity girls’ soccer team, and a member of the track and field team.

Meredith carries a 4.0 GPA, and her favorite subject is science. When asked why this was her favorite subject, she commented, “I love all science classes. My favorite is physiology. I love learning how complex the body is.” She is currently enrolled in dual enrollment through JSU for history and is in advanced placement for English.

When asked who has had the most impact on her academically, Meredith said, “Mrs. Otwell, my English teacher, has always pushed me to excel while being kind and caring.” Athletically, Meredith says the person who has had the most influence on her is her coach Michelle Bain. “She is an encourager and has taught the squad the importance of individuality while being a unified squad.”

She is a member of the Student Government Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Students, French Club, Focus Group, and Knox Concert Service Committee. She is also involved in the DD Club and a member of the Golden Springs Baptist Church Youth Group.

Meredith is the daughter of Brian and Kendall Howell of Anniston and sister of Hayden, ’12. She plans to attend the University of Alabama but is undecided about her major at this time. She recently traveled to Nakuru, Kenya, with her youth group and would like to major in a field that would allow her to do more work in the mission field.

Congratulations, Meredith!
