Korielle Beavers Takes the Court for Falcon Varsity Basketball

The squeak of the sneaker on the court is a familiar sound to new Varsity Basketball Head Coach, Korielle Beavers. He has been on the basketball court for most of his life, either playing or coaching. His love of the game is only rivaled by his dedication to the growth of his athletes.

“What I like most about coaching is the growth of the player. Not just with their game, but in their confidence, mentality, leadership and teamwork. Learning to play as a unit will help them in life.” says Beavers.

Beavers, a graduate of Saks High School, attended Southern Union and University of West Alabama. He comes to Donoho after coaching junior varsity basketball for the last four years. His players have felt an immediate bond with their new coach and are enjoying his team-building exercises.

“What I love most about Donoho are the kids. Each kid is different and as I’m teaching them this game, I am learning about the other things they are involved with. I don’t know much about music, theater, arts and soccer, but I’m seeing their passion for all kinds of things and it is helping me to grow.”

Falcons Basketball kicks off their new season at home with their new coach on Monday, November 25, against Faith Christian. Action starts at 5:00 p.m., with Junior Varsity Boys coached by Mark Sanders and Assistant Coach, Dylan Jones. Varsity girls coached by Beavers and Assistant Coach, Addesha Collins, will take the court at 6:00 p.m. Varsity boys will take the court at 7:00 p.m.

We are looking forward to a great season of Falcon Hoops!
