Home School Outreach Program
 
 

Mission:

  • to provide quality instruction by experienced educators in a variety of subjects
    • advanced academic courses for grades 9-12
    • foreign language courses
    • enrichment courses in the fine arts for grades 7-12
  • to encourage the pursuit of higher levels of learning
  • to increase the depth of study available for a particular subject

 Requirements for admission:

  • Students must officially be enrolled in a home school program.
  • Applicants must complete an application packet which is subject to review by the admissions committee.  The decision of the admissions committee is final.
  • Admission is granted on an as-available basis.  Full time students of The Donoho School shall be given preference for space.
  • The following steps must be followed to complete the application process¹
    • submit application ($25 fee)
    • interview with school administrator and/or counselor
    • successfully complete entrance testing
      • KBIT2 ($35)
      • STAR ($5)
      • Math assessment ($5)
      • Writing sample ($5)
      • ACT or SAT (current score may be required for certain courses)
      • For French II+ and Spanish II+, a foreign language proficiency test and/or interview with school personnel ($10)

 Payment options:

  • Year-long courses
    • 50% of total tuition must be paid at least two weeks prior to the first day of classes.
    • 30% of total tuition must be paid by October 1.
    • The final 20% of total tuition must be paid by February 1.
  • Semester-long courses
    • 75% of total tuition must be paid at least two weeks prior to the first day of classes.
    • The final 25% of total tuition must be paid by the close of business on the 10th business day of the school term.

 Refunds for dropped courses:

  • If it is necessary to dismiss a student for conduct, attitude, or habitual acts detrimental to the school, no tuition payments will be refunded.
  • No refunds will be provided for semester-long courses.
  • For year long courses, the following conditions will apply:
    • If the school is notified in writing by the close of business of the fifth business day of the school term, 75% of the tuition² that has been will be refunded.
    • If the school is notified by the close of business of the 10th business day of the school term, 50% of the tuition² that has been paid be refunded.
    • Beginning with the 11th business day of the school term, no refund will be provided.

 Student requirements/responsibilities:

  • Students and parents/legal guardians must read, sign, and strictly follow the guidelines of the Technology User Agreement.
  • Students are responsible for purchasing any textbooks or other supplies required by the course instructor. (Lab and/or art supply fees are included in tuition and cover basic materials to be used in projects throughout the course.)
  • Students are NOT eligible to participate in academic, athletic, or fine arts competitions.
  • Students must adhere to and are subject to the tenets of the honor code of The Donoho School.
  • Students and parents/legal guardians will receive a copy of The Donoho School’s handbook/code of conduct as well as the Home School Addendum and must sign that they have read and will support the policies contained therein. 
  • If it is necessary to dismiss a student for conduct, attitude, or habitual acts detrimental to the school, no tuition payments will be refunded.
  • The Donoho School will provide an access code for an Edline account for monitoring assignments and other school information.  Parents/guardians and students are responsible for activating the account.
  • Students may enroll in no more than one academic course during any school term.
  • Students must be picked up within five minutes of the end of the course each day.
  • Students and parents/guardians must participate in an orientation before beginning classes at The Donoho School.

¹Costs associated with admissions to The Donoho School and/or particular courses are one-time fees as long as the student maintains enrollment in at least one course per year.

²Refundable portion of tuition is tuition minus a 5% administrative fee and any applicable lab/supply fees.
