Students
in grades 9 – 12 who are studying or have studied
French may join the French Club. Most meetings
are held second semester. The goal of the French
Club is to increase interest in and knowledge
of francophone countries and cultures. The officers
plan enjoyable activities for the membership with
this theme in mind. Traditionally the club has
a joint dinner meeting with the Spanish Club where
French and Spanish cuisines are presented. There
is also “Dinner and a Movie,” which features easy
French specialties and a light-hearted French
film. There is a National French Week celebration
in November, which includes Lower School French
students as well as regional competitions and
caroling at Christmas. The membership and officers
are free to modify this choice of activities as
they prefer. It is a relaxed and fun way to get
to know other students while learning something
of francophone culture outside the classroom and
textbook.
