For
more than 47 years, FCA has presented to athletes
and coaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ. FCA has
grown into the largest, small-group, youth-oriented
ministry in America . It has sought to serve the
athletic community, undergirded by God’s Spirit
operating in the lives of available persons.
In
1947, Don McClanen conceived the idea of making
the world of athletes and coaches a mission field.
As a coach, he knew there was a great need to
bring Jesus Christ to the athletic field. Don
McClanen shared his desire and passed on his enthusiasm
to several influential pastors, business leaders,
and athletic figures, and in 1954, the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes became a reality.
More
than 7,500 FCA Huddles currently meet in about
18 percent of the junior highs, high schools,
and colleges in America , involving an estimated
300,000 students. FCA’s goal is to have a presence
on every school campus in America .
