Eligibility RequirementsGENERAL ELIGIBILITY
Student athletes must meet the eligibility requirements of the Alabama High School
Athletic Association prior to their participation in any sport.
Students must have the following on file in the school office:
1. The Donoho School’s Hold Harmless Agreement
2. A certified birth certificate
3. An athletic permission form
4. AHSAA Student Release Form
5. AHSAA Pre-participation Physical Evaluation Form
6. AHSAA Concussion Information Form
7. Certificate of completion of the NFHS Sportsmanship Course
**NFHS Sportsmanship Course:
The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Central Board of Control approved the NFHS Sportsmanship Course and added the program to student eligibility requirements. Students in grades 7 through 12 MUST complete the on-line interactive program and meet all other established requirements in order to be eligible for high school interscholastic athletics, including cheerleading. Students will need to create a NFHS account, complete the course, and print the certificate of completion to return to the school to file in their eligbility file. Academic eligibility for athletic participation is determined on the first day of the
school week and will not change until the first day of the next school week.
Except for school-sponsored activities, athletes must be in attendance at least 1/2
day (missing no more than three (3) academic class periods) on the day of
participation. This includes athletic competitions or practices.
Students are ineligible for co-curricular participation when they receive a failing
grade (not necessarily in the same subject) on the fourth consecutive Monday.
Students who are ineligible for participation may not travel with the school team
or dress for the competition.
TRANSFER ELIGIBILITY RULES
Students transferring to The Donoho School and entering 7th grade for the first time are eligible regardless of where they transfer from or where they live. Receiving financial aid from the school would be the only factor that could rule them ineligible.
Students transferring to The Donoho School and entering grades 8-12 will be ineligible for one calendar year unless they have made a bona fide move from outside the school district.
If a transferring student has made a bona fide move into our district, the student must meet the following criteria to be eligible: (1.) Must have met the course and grade requirements of the AHSAA, and (2.) must not be receiving financial aid from The Donoho School.
All rules are subject to change at the discretion of the AHSAA.
