Early Childhood Program


 

 

Our early childhood department offers programs with an academic emphasis far beyond a daycare or play school curriculum.

 

PK4 and Kindergarten:

  • Special celebrations for holidays and important events

  • Weekly art and music classes taught

  • Weekly French classes taught

  • Spring musical performance

  • School provided iPad use to reinforce skills

  • Weekly computer classes in the lab to learn basic use of computers and practice literacy and math skills for K5 students

  • Private music lessons in piano, strings, guitar, voice are available on our campus during the school day for students in kindergarten through grade 6.

Intermediate Department:
The intermediate department is a place to transition between the primary grades and the middle school.  By the time our students leave sixth grade, they have learned how to study, be better organized, be independent learners and readers, and create learning tools such as documents, videos, and presentations. 
 
Intermediate students participate in:

  • Central Alabama Elementary Science Olympiad each year for more than 20 years.

  • Scripps National Spelling Bee, with many of our students advancing to the state competition; one advanced to the national level of the spelling bee.

  • National Geographic Geography Bee (Many of our students have advanced to the state competition throughout the years)

  • Foreign language instruction by highly qualified teachers

  • Spanish for 4th grade 

  • Latin for 5th and 6th grades

  • Weekly art and music lessons by degreed and certified teachers

  • PE classes daily

  • Music and drama performances

  • Technology classes to learn ethical and proper use of computers and other devices; to create documents, presentations, and videos; to learn how to use technology in many ways to enhance learning and create cross-curricular projects; to learn presentation skills 

  • Private music lessons in piano, strings, guitar, voice are available on our campus during the school day for students in kindergarten through grade 6.
