Summer Reading Requirements Grades K-6 (revised

students entering… Kindergarten: ·
Each student is required to participate in a summer reading program at the
local library. ·
Students
are encouraged to complete the Summer
Bridge Activities, Level PK-K, as part of or in addition to the summer
reading. ·
Students
should maintain a reading log. ·

Each student is required to participate in a

Students are encouraged to complete the Summer Bridge Activities, Level K-1,
as part of or in addition to the summer reading. ·
Students should maintain a reading log. ·

questions. Grade Two: ·
Each student is required to read at least 300
pages of new material within his/her reading range. ·
Students are encouraged to complete the Summer Bridge Activities, Level 1-2,
as part of or in addition to the summer reading. ·
Please do not read books from the second grade
required book list; these will be read during the school year. ·
Students should maintain a reading log. ·
Students will complete a project during the first
two weeks of school. ·

Each student is required to read at least 350
pages of new material within his/her reading range. At least 250 pages must be from chapter
books. ·
Students are encouraged to complete the Summer Bridge Activities, Level 2-3,
as part of or in addition to the summer reading. ·
Each students is required to read ·
Students should maintain a reading log. ·
Please do not read books from the third grade
required book list; these will be read during the school year. ·
Students will complete a project during the first
two weeks of school. ·

Students are encouraged to complete the Summer Bridge Activities, Level 3-4,
4-5, or 5-6, as part of or in addition to the summer reading. ·
Each student must read at least two other books of
the student’s choice, within his/her reading range, and not previously read
by the student. ·
Each student must maintain a reading log for ALL
books read. ·
Each student is strongly encouraged to take
detailed notes on the required book for his/her grade level. ·
A project and/or study of the required novel will
be completed during the first two weeks of school. ·
Assignments based on the other books may be
assigned during the first grading period. ·
Please do not read books from the required book
lists; these will be read during the school year. ·
