IMPORTANT ATHLETIC INFORMATION

STAR Sportsmanship Initiative

Dear Parents and Students:

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Central Board of Control approved the STAR Sportsmanship Initiative and added the program to student eligibility requirements, beginning this school year-2008-2009.

Students in grades 7 through 12 MUST complete the on-line interactive program and meet all other established requirements in order to be eligible for high school interscholastic athletics. A certificate of completion must be kept on file in the school principal’s office along with other eligibility items, including birth certificate and physician’s statement.

All students and cheerleaders must complete the course one time during their high school athletic careers. Coaches will also be required to complete a coach’s component of the Sportsmanship Initiative. Parents are encouraged to go on line to complete a component of the initiative designed just for them.

It will take about 30 minutes to go through the program. You can do it from your home computer, get your certificate printed and turned into the Upper School office, or Mrs. Betty Palmer (AD) any time this summer.

Using the browser of your choice (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) to access the internet:

1.Type in www.learningthroughsports.com

2. Click on “Click Here to Enter Site” located in the lower right hand corner.

3. Click on “STAR Sportsmanship” located in the upper left hand corner (written in yellow).

4. Click on the appropriate sign in; “ Student”, “Coach”, or “Parent”

5. Enter the school’s STAR Code (this code is the same for all Donoho coaches, students and parents). The Donoho code is STAR02068

6. Once you have entered your code, click OK.

7. Next you will verify your school by clicking OK.

8. Students will need to select their grade level. Register your name. It is important that you use your correct name. No nicknames or fictitious names will be accepted.

9. Congratulations. You are in the program.

Bring your completed certificate to the Upper School office or to Mrs. Betty Palmer (AD) at school as soon as possible. The certificate will be placed on file.
